The little base is the whole reason I bought this — the scoop stands upright in it and doesn't drip or leave a mess on the floor. It also takes up barely any room next to the box, which I appreciate in a small bathroom.
I scoop twice a day and got tired of the wet scoop dripping on the floor, so the base on this one sold me. It sits right next to the box and catches the stray clumps, and the scoop pops out easily when I need it.
The little stand actually keeps the scoop off the floor, which I didn't know I needed until I had it. It sits right beside the box and hides the dirty end, and scooping feels less gross now.
