The hood actually cut down the litter my cat kicks out onto the floor, which was my main gripe with open pans. The removable top makes scooping and full changes way easier than I expected.
My senior cat took to the lowered entry point right away, no hesitation at all, which honestly surprised me. The removable hood makes scooping way less of a chore, and I like that I can pop it off entirely when I deep clean.
