I flip to the bristle side after the pins and it genuinely leaves my dog's coat glossy instead of that dull post-brush look. The non-slip handle is a nice touch too, even with a wiggly dog on the table.
The pin side worked through the burrs stuck in my terrier's tail without her yelping once, which never happens with our old comb. Flipping to the bristle side afterward got her coat looking smooth instead of wild.
The pin side handles the mats behind my lab's ears way better than the slicker I had before, and flipping to the bristle side leaves his coat genuinely shiny. Handle doesn't slip even with a wiggly dog.
