The tapered shape is what sold me — my budgie grips the wider base easily and steps up toward the slender tip without slipping. It mounts solidly on the cage bars and hasn't shifted once.
My cockatiel actually chews on the tip of this perch sometimes, but the wider base gives her feet a solid grip that she didn't have with the old dowels. She seems to balance more comfortably now, and it was easy to clip onto the cage bars without any fuss.
