The sand coating on this perch is rougher than I expected, and that's a good thing — my budgie's nails have already worn down noticeably after a couple weeks. It screws onto the cage bars easily and the T shape gives her somewhere to sit besides the dowel.
My cockatiel actually spends time on this perch instead of ignoring it like the last two I tried. The natural sand grip has already smoothed his beak a bit, and the T-shape gives him plenty of room to balance while he naps.
The sand coating is rough enough that I’ve noticed my cockatiel’s nails don’t need clipping as often, and she actually perches on it for hours without slipping. The T-shape gives her a nice grip at both ends, and it’s held up well to daily use so far.
